Sunday 15^th  February

Phoned Charles few times, but he was not there, spoke to others.  He came later with Kil.  Went to Cranley Hotel with them and Dot and Gordon.  Danced etc.  Met Staff sergeant.  Did not go to bed till about 3 o’clock.  I rather like Kim.  He kissed me.  Saw Jonny Ford, he’s from Chicago.  Crazy about me.

 

Monday 16^th February

Phoned Charles, he was not there.  Had conversation with corporal Ron.  Went to bed 10 o’clock, just read book.  Did not do much.  Jeff’s home on leave.  Ron says he’s twenty, 6 foot tall and a corporal.  Wants me to find girl friend.  Did not go to their dance at Ewhurst.

Wednesday 11^th February

Phoned Charles, but he was not there.  Spoke to Harold.  Looked in at dance.  Not too bad, no one in particular there so did not go, anyhow I’m broke.  Saw Len etc.  Did not go anywhere else.  Bit fed up.  Went to bed early.  9:30. Maybe I’ll go to the pictures tomorrow.  Have not been for some time.

 

Thursday 12^th February

Phoned Charles.  Spoke quite long time, spoke to Fannie.  Saw Don the American filmstar.  Did not go to movies after all.  Just stayed in went to bed early.  Charles may not come to dance on Saturday.  He may be on duty.  Will phone him tomorrow.  Have not heard from Bob.

Monday 9^th February

Spoke to lots of Canadians.  Did not do much today.  Had to walk to work as Charles has got my bike.  Naughty Charles had a smash the other day has got to be court-marshalled.  He once ran a man over and killed him.  Did not go out .  Listened to Canadian news on the radio.  The snow is clearing away now.  Saw Wally.

 

Tuesday 10^th February

Went to Canadian invitation dance.  Charles brought bike back, gave me Canadian pad-lock.  Saw and danced with Naughty Charles.  Nic gave me cigarette.  Pamela danced with Sammy.  Saw Harold he came rund to house.  Went to Three Horshoes.  Danced with lots of boys.  Doris and Margie were there.  Also Colonel and Captain.  Good dance.  Enjoyed. Billie seemed annoyed.

Saturday 7^th February

Did not go to Guildford after all.  Charles came about 3:30 p.m.  Had bath.  Water cold.  Charles brought chocolates and pickles.  Went to Cranleigh Hotel.  Officers spoke.  Went to dance, saw Nic.  Danced with him.  Billie met Sammy.  Brought him home.  Charles stayed.  Naughty Charles did not come.  Lights went out in waltz.

 

Sunday 8^th February

Charles came about 3:00 p.m.  Gordon came later.  Had tea.  Fooled around danced.  Went to Cranleigh Hotel.  Harold came.  Gave me chewing gum.  They missed truck.  Gordon walked.  Charles cycled.  He seemed very tired.  Dorothy sat with Little Gordon for a bit, and sort of cheered him up.

Thursday 5^th February

It’s still snowing.  Phoned Charles, Milton pretended it was him.  Kidded me up, told me he was a corporal.  Tried to phone several times got 4d out of phone.  Charles and Gordon came.  We all went to Cranleigh Hotel.  Saw Bob and friend, also Colonel.  Jeff said he likes my eyes.  Ha ha!  Gordon seemed lonesome.  They had to walk back.  Saw sergeant majors and officers etc.

 

Friday 6^th February

Got off with an officer in staff-car.  Did not go out, but washed my hair!  Auntie Pat cam.  Told us little “Zoie” the dog is dead.  Pamela is going tomorrow.  She nearly missed her bus.  Says she’s got to register tomorrow!  Of course, I don’t know if it’s true.  I should think she’s about 37.

Sunday 1^st February

All went to Cranleigh Hotel.  All officers etc. there also film star.  Billie met some sergeant majors.  Everyone laughed and joked.  She talked with officers etc.  Did not go out in evening.  Children went to pictures.  Scotty came, Charles mad him jealous.  Gosh!  These boyfriends!!

 

Monday 2^nd February

On way to have lunch, met Naughty Charles, had a little chat.  He’s been to Bournemouth for weekend.  He’s very nice.  Threw snowball at me!  Phoned Charles, but was not there, so spoke to Harold and Gordon.  Phoned again later, and spoke to one of the boys, also Charles, they were playing cards!  Am going to dance tomorrow.

Friday 30^th January

Mummy and Pamela went to pictures.  I stayed in and looked after Wendy.  Did not phone, as it was too late.  Also Charles was on duty.  Learnt that there was a dance.  They did not tell us!  Dorothy phoned Gordon.  Stayed about an hour.  The weather is cold.

 

Saturday 31^st January

Did not go to Guildford after all.  Charles and Gordon came early.  Went to Cranleigh Hotel.  Saw officers.  Woman sketched us, what a laugh.  Went to dance.  Wilfred Pickles was there.  Had lots fun.  Went for drink with Harold etc.  Stayed weekend in Cranleigh.  Girls all like Charles.

 

Wednesday 28^th January

Phoned Edna and Theresa.  Went to pictures saw George Brent and Brenda Marshall in South of Suez.  Also Jane Withers in _____.  Saw several officers including film star.  Also several soldiers I know.  Lots of Canadians.  Gordon said he thinks Dorothy, Billie, him and another guy may go out tomorrow.  Thinks Charles went to dance.  If he can go dancing by himself, so can I.

 

Thursday 29^th January

Some Canadians asked me if I was going to dance Sat.  Gordon, Charles and Bill came.  Did not  go to dance, but went to Cranleigh Hotel, saw my officers.  Went in wrong cloak room.  What a laugh.  Went home, danced etc.  Had bit of party.  Ally and Ginger came.  Boys made terrific din in lorry.  Am going to dance on Saturday.  Bill’s not a bad dancer.
